Braz for the Cause DOES NOT fund research. We raise money for the Massel-Cruickshank Breast Cancer Patient Assistance Fund. This fund makes a difference in the lives of those living with breast cancer by reducing the financial hardship associated with the diagnosis or treatment. The fund can help with a diverse range of services including, but not limited to: wigs, prostheses, mastectomy bras and swimsuits, medications to control pain or nausea, supportive care medications, lymphedema supplies, taxi fare, parking, child care, respite care or palliative care. Anything that improves the quality of life of the individual will be given consideration. The assistance fund covers a population of 1.5 million people focusing on South Western Ontario and the referral area of the LRCP. This includes an area as far north as Owen Sound, west to Sarnia and Chatham, east to just past Woodstock and south to Lake Erie.
Braz for the Cause is a grassroots and 100% volunteer organization. We have raised over $670,000 to help breast cancer patients in our community.
Braz for the Cause began as, and continues to be, an organization run entirely by volunteers. Our mission is to make a difference in our community by providing our Pink Braz Comfort Pillows to patients undergoing breast cancer surgery as well as providing funding to short-term financial aid through the Massel-Cruickshank Breast Cancer Patient Assistance Fund by way of the London Regional Cancer Program Patient Assistance Program. Over the years we have also supported community breast cancer needs such as donating to the St Joseph’s London Breast Cancer Clinic providing beverages to outpatients.
